Iran Attacks India-Bound Ship in Strait of Hormuz
Iranian forces attacked the MV Cape Dao in the Strait of Hormuz, killing Indian crew member Suraj Yadav. At least two projectiles struck the accommodation deck and engine-room hull, setting the India-bound bulk carrier ablaze and forcing its abandonment. The ship carried 28 people, including 20 Indian crew. Iran’s security chief said the strait would remain closed unless Washington accepted seven conditions, while President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran remained committed to diplomacy but would not yield to military pressure.

Russian drones and ballistic missiles struck Kyiv, killing two people and injuring 24, according to Ukraine. Reported targets included homes, a maternity hospital, pharmaceutical facilities, railways and communications infrastructure. A Ukrainian F-16 was filmed using its gun against a Russian drone or cruise missile. Separately, reports said the CIA warned Spain, France and Italy that Russia might be preparing drone attacks. Lithuania identified the suspected platform as a Gerbera drone with a range of about 600 kilometres, potentially launched from a merchant vessel.
Sensitive parts from an Australian F-35 were accidentally sent to Hong Kong while being shipped to the United States for inspection, repair or disposal. The cargo included a cockpit canopy and weapons-bay door. Chinese authorities took possession of the components, and the Pentagon said it was trying to recover them. Australia separately signed a security agreement with Ukraine and pledged $60 million for energy support, protective equipment and humanitarian aid. Ukraine offered to share expertise in maritime drones, ground platforms and artificial-intelligence systems.
